Lake Louise is a fantastic ski resort – and not always as crowdy as it looks on the photo. It hosts the ladies‘ world cup every year and is therefore quite well known.
Really good. Like almost everywhere in Canada you have a huge variety of terrain you can ski. Trees, chutes, bumps, slopes… you can choose from all difficulty levels. The lake and the mountains are very beautiful. Check out our photo gallery!
Pretty much everyone can have fun here. The range is from blue/ green slopes to double black diamond chutes. They have a big terrain park, too. A one week stay? If you are a family – no problem. For more advanced skiers 3 – 4 days are ok. The Lake Louise resort offers a „Big 3“ skipass so you can check out Sunshine and Mount Norquay, too. There are free shuttle busses from Lake Louise to Sunshine and Banff and vice versa – which is great.
No ski tours done – but it definitely looks like a great area for that. Here you can get some descriptions http://backcountryskiingcanada.com/index.php/Backcountry-Skiing-Lake-Louise-Ski-Resort#Whitehorn.
Mountain restaurants/ lodges
There are some – but to be honest no real super fantastic lodge you have to see.
How to get there
From Calgary take Highway 1 – if you go by car – or take the shuttle bus from Calgary airport. Lake Louise is a very small town, the biggest hotel is the Fairmont Chateau. In Banff you have more hotels and more Aprés-Ski action.
Ride savely! Always check http://www.avalanche.ca before hitting the backcountry.
