Lenggries/ Germany

Lenggries is a ski resort with a long tradition in Germany. Home of famous german skiers like olymic champion Hilde Gerg, Michaela Gerg or Martina Ertl. The local mountain is called Brauneck.

Overall impression

Very nice. It is a small area with only 34 km of groomed slopes, a gondola, some chairlifts and a couple of drag lifts. Usually there are not too many people there so you don’t have much waiting time. The difficulty range is easy to quite difficult. The world cup piste – yes, 2 world cup races took place there – is quite difficult in some parts. If you have a good winter there are many chances to go off-piste, too.

Target group

Well, if you stay for longer than 1 or 2 days it is probably something for families. If your looking for a big freeride area, really challenging slopes or a big variety of pistes it is not quite the place to stay for longer – still 1 or 2 days is perfect. They offer „by hour“ tickets – so if you have 3 hours in the afternoon and want to do some sports it’s perfect.

Skitouring

Starting at the Draxlhang you can ascend to the Brauneck (1555 meters).

Mountain restaurants

They have really nice mountain restaurants with good food and bavarian beer so don’t miss it.

How to get there

From Munich it is a 1 hour drive by car.
